USPS Route 66 Stamps Honoring 100 Years
The United States Postal Service has announced the release of a new commemorative stamp collection celebrating the 100th anniversary of the legendary Route 66.
This special pane includes 16 stamps that pay homage to the historic highway famously known as “The Mother Road.” Featuring photographs by David J. Schwartz, the collection captures memorable scenes, landmarks, and roadside icons along the nearly 2,500-mile stretch.
The stamps are set to debut in May as part of the centennial festivities marking the establishment of Route 66 in 1926.
Running from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, the famed roadway has long symbolized American road trips, adventure, and classic roadside culture.
Oklahoma’s contribution to the collection is the Oil Capital Motel in Tulsa — a once-prominent landmark that may no longer stand in its original form but lives on through its restored neon sign displayed in a park along 11th Street near the Arkansas River bridge.
According to postal officials, the stamp series honors the cultural importance and lasting impact of Route 66 as it reaches this historic milestone.
Happy stamp collecting!
